Workshop Day 2
August 19: 9am - 6pm

IMPORTANT: Day 2 of the workshop we will be helping teams with their concepts WHILE TEACHING NEW SKILLS. There will therefore be a technical pause on the clock of 6 hours. Final delivery will be midnight, August 20.

9am - 48 hour clock pause

9am - 10:30am - Review of team plans; mentoring sessions

10:30am - 12:30pm - On set sound

  • Correct lavaliere practices

  • Monitoring, clipping, and limiters

  • Capturing ambient sound

  • Boom techniques

 

1:30pm - 3:00pm - Lighting masterclass

  • Basic 3-point lighting

  • Your bounce IS your lighting kit

  • Color temperature & White balance

    • Tungsten/Daylight and beyond

 

3:00pm - 48 hour clock resumes

3:00pm onwards - Mentors assist

Day 3 - Film challenge conclusion
August 20

Teams work to complete shoot, edit, color, and delivery of their film at the location of their choice.

48 Hour Film Challenge
August 19: 6pm

48 Hour Film Challenge commences on the evening of Workshop Day 2 (August 19) with submission upload deadline midnight August 20th.

SCREENING

Open to the public. Invite your family and friends to see your masterpiece!

FilmLab714 is designed for emerging filmmakers and creative collaborators ages 18–35. Participants must be at least 18 years old and no older than 35 on the first day of the workshop.

Sound equipment and lighting resources will be available; let us know during sign-up if you plan to bring your own camera/gear.

PRIZES

The main prize of a Blackmagic Cinema Camera will go to the stand-out individual. So even if your team loses, you can still win the camera if your contribution was exceptional!

Second and third stand-out individuals win one of two DaVinci Resolve Studio licenses, valued at $299.

Members of the winning team will each receive a $100 gift certificate to filmtools.com
